What inspired the idea for your novel, and how long have you had the idea?

I said it in THIS post.

And …. I’ve had the idea for maybe … less than a year?

Describe what your novel is about!

Superheroes.

Okay, okay.

Nope, that’s what it’s about.

I’ve just always wanted to write about people with other-worldly powers. And since I’m NOT a planner, it’s a little hard to explain. BUUUUUUUUUT if you want to find out, you can read it HERE. (I’m TOTALLY NOT trying to get you to read it…)

What is your book’s aesthetic? Use words or photos or whatever you like!

This is awkward.

I’m not exactly sure what Cait means by aesthetics. Like, I know what the word means (after a quick Google search to be sure), but, um, yeah.

So let’s just do some pictures! 😀

Introduce us to each of your characters!

Well, this’ll be long.

Sawyer:

He’s the MC. ISTJ. I did a post on him right HERE and HERE. But he’s just really sweet and (SPOILERS) he’s “superpower” isn’t that powerful.

Paige:

I’ve done something on her HERE as well. But, I thought that she was just going to be in than out, buuuut I liked her power too much! 😉 She’s an INTJ (’cause you all wanted to know that) with the power to manipulate electricity. She’s pretty cool.

Dr. Eugene:

I’m sure that you all remember him! *evil laugh* Well, he’s kinda a villain … but I need to bring him back where I’m writing at…. Anyways. He’s got a degree in psychology and has a “mental institution.” Mwahaha.

Clara:

Ah, the little lovely. You may think of her as a villain at this point … but really she’s my
little darling! ❤ I started with her being able to travel all over and actually being older than what she seems (like 13 … but she’s unable to age), but as of now, she’s not.

Andy:

He’s … fun to write. Has some anger issues and is probably the closest personality-wise to me. Andy has a cool power and some secrets up his sleeve.

Acacia:

One of my favorite characters of ever. But she has some secrets of her own, as well. To see more about her, go HERE.

Colleen Ada:

Add some frizz…

Quick trivia: Years ago, our family watched Dr. Quinn. I loved the name Colleen, but wanted to spruce it up a bit. So on my first REAL novel (which was just basically a rip-off of Dragons in Our Midst) I named the little sister this. Now the notebook is “tragically” destroyed, and those nearly two hundred pages are gone. So in memory of that, I named this girl Colleen Ada.

She’s the first to befriend Sawyer and looks like this Georgie Henley-ish girl << (just with frizzier, redder hair) and is funny. But with a dangerous power. Dun, dun, duh!!!

Alla:

Alla is another one of those characters that I invented because I just …. needed a character
other than Sawyer (I have a problem here, I know). Alla’s mostly quiet, but when you get her talking, she won’t shut up (not that I’m like that, I don’t know why you’d say something like that!). She’s pretty close with James, and is also friends with Sawyer.

James:

James. Ahhhh, James. Remember THIS short story??? Well, I randomly choose the name James, but I realized that I’d actually made that character a lot like this James. And it’s now in-cannon. So, yes, my precious dies. </3

James is one of those people who are hilarious without being overwhelming. He’s really sweet and fun and I just love him!

Alex:

Here she is in THIS story. Aren’t I nice, giving you glimpses of characters???? She’s pretty solemn, but when you crack her shell, you find out that she’s such a loving feeler. And she has fire manipulation (I’m changing it to that … so she can’t create fire, but, rather, manipulate it).

How do you prepare to write? (Outline, research, stocking up on chocolate, howling, etc.?)

I choose an idea. And I write.

What are you most looking forward to about this novel?

I’ve already started it….

But I’m SUPER excited, ’cause I think that I’ll be finishing it this NaNo!! But sh, shhh!! Don’t tell anyone.

And I just love exploring the different powers of the individuals.

Also, a lot of the powers I’ve done a TON of research on, and how they could POSSIBLY be true, so appreciate that I’ve slaved over that fact. But, really, I love that part almost more than the actual writing! Almost.

List 3 things about your novel’s setting.

It later takes place in Norway. (Just a random choice there.)
I have a creepy guy leading someone into the woods.

It doesn’t actually have a set time that I’ve decided. (Also, a lot of the characters I don’t mention their age, a suggestion, yes. But they’re actual age? Nuh uh.)

What’s your character’s goal and who (or what) stands in the way?

Really, he’s just bumbling about, trying to make sense of the things that are going on around him. Also, learning about a forgotten past. 80  (Dun dun duh!!!)

A guy stands in the way … but he dwells in mystery, so, yeah.

How does your protagonist change by the end of the novel?

I haven’t exactly finished it, nor planned it. But, I think that he becomes a lot more knowledgeable and, if it’s possible, more compassionate AND closed off by the end. Yeah.

What are your book’s themes? How do you want readers to feel when the story is over?

Themes??? Hahahahahaha. NO. That is for editing. I don’t need my characters to have morals. Yet.

Honestly, I’d just be ecstatic to HAVE readers.
