Minions – so we meet again.

Anyways. Sorry about disappearing on all of you! I feel SO, SUPER BAD. I’ve had some rough emotional past few weeks, but ALAS! IT IS OVER.

Today I’m doing a writer tag that Cait did on PaperFury, and I’m gonna do it! I hope you all enjoy (it’s kinda long … but I know that you all love it πŸ˜‰ ).

Oh, and on Thursday, it was my second blogiversary, but I didn’t want to make a big deal. Β But I want to thank all of my lovely – I’m just gonna assume that that’s all of you … but, you know, maybe not – followers and readers. Especially those of you who are both. tenorI’m immensely blessed to have 105 followers (yea … I had to look that number up).

And in OTHER news, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is LESS THAN A FREAKING WEEK AWAY. ACK.

Also, WARNING: I DIDN’T PROOFREAD THIS POST. Ahem.

WHAT GENRES, STYLES, AND TOPICS DO YOU WRITE ABOUT?

For Genre:

I write in many different genres. Okay, um, cross that out. I plan in many different genres.Β I’ve only written an animal contemporary (let’s not talk about that), contemporary superhero, Medieval/Greek/Roman/Etc. fantasy, contemporary world travel (that’s ALSO one we shan’t speak of), and, um, yeah.

HOWEVER.

I’ve planned another contemporary world travel | assassin in an unidentified time | contemporary with a deadly plague outbreak | Ariel retelling where she ISN’T a brat | a contemporary library/magical realism …Β thing | another contemporary superhero | thriller/magical realism | time travel.

So … I like contemporary. OKAY. But I like it because I don’t usually like contemporary, and I want to get some GOOD ones out there, IMO.

Also, two questions down kinda is connected to this one.

Okay, for Styles:

I, at least I HOPE, that I have a more haunting writing, or something like that. I love sad and traumatic writing/topics, so that definitely BLEEDSΒ in. (Hahahahahahha – I’m hilarious.) I mix up my writing with 1st and 3rd POV.

In the library one, the girl narrator is in 1st, while the boy’s in 3rd. Broken Reflections is obviously 1st, while Meryl’s is 3rd. I’m trying to write short stories with a present tense vs. past, but it’s still hard for me, even though I love it.

Topics:

A wide variety.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WRITING?

31b09e4395c35f371d2fe922109cf6d7
This is me IRL.

Um, forever? (Yeah – I’m that old.)

I’ve been going to school for a long time. My family are all (mostly) bookworms, so it kinda comes with the territory.

Fun-story-that-I’ve-definitely-told-before: I was a terror when it came to writing. My mom still recounts the horrors to all.

I started my first “serious” novel when I was maybe eight. Remember that modern contemporary? Yeah, say hello to Bailey the Dolphin. (But before that, I remember my SIS getting attention for doing little “comics” so I did them as well. Hahahhahahaha, no. But last year at church camp, I won candy for doing the best comic strip based on a Bible verse. Ya know, no biggie)

And when I was maybe ten, I TOTALLY ripped off Bryan Davis’s Dragons in Our Midst … but at least I realized that I was, and tried to do something the opposite. (That was the world travel one.)

Lastly, two years ago I did my first NaNo, where I came up with Meryl when I just looked at that blank computer screen. Bam. I also want to give C.B. Cook thanks for doing a STORY CONTEST, that I totally loved, and I wrote my first (second?) short story.

WHY DO YOU WRITE?

The super, ultra deep thing is: it gets me away from my family. πŸ˜› Just kidding, guys!

Really, I like it because I can EXPERIENCE so many different things. I, unfortunately, can’t experience things through books that well ( πŸ˜₯ ), but while writing, I can do that. That’s why (I’m going super deep and personal here) Meryl’s book is full of some of my biggest fears and dreams. So I can EXPERIENCE it.

Also because when we were little Jess did it and got lots of attention (and yet – I didn’t, imagine that).

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO WRITE?

Under pressure.

hx9rpzeHaha, it’s true, though.

That’s why I usually do best at night when I’m trying to meet a word goal (whether for NaNo or just for myself). And I’m also a morning person, so I just randomly smack in words on my keyboard. Hey, it works.

PARTS OF WRITING YOU LOVE VS PARTS YOU HATE?

Love:

Just opening up a Word Doc. and just zone out and let my fingers randomly hit the keys. I’m a complete and total pantser, so this just is THE best feeling.

I love seeing characters develop from nothing into something – subtly hinting at their past experience and their future dreams, etc.

I also love to go back over and read what I’ve written. Seriously, guys, I just ADORE this. ❀

Hate:

Monotony.

So if you’ve ever written anything that’s kind sorta long (not Worm long, but ya know), you SHOULD know that you have these little “filler” spots, or travelling. It’s a great time for character development, but it’s rather bothersome.

That part during NaNo when I just CAN’T stand when I start to get tired of my novel.

HOW DO YOU OVERCOME WRITERS BLOCK?

HA.tumblr_inline_ntk4cpg2xj1toctg7_500

I don’t get it.

ARE YOU WORKING ON SOMETHING AT THE MOMENT?

Yeah. And no.

I’m still writing Broken Reflections, but not “currently,” though I’ll probably pick it back up continuously in November. I’m gonna try this year to focus on a different novel every month (or just alternating between two).

I’m also still working on Meryl’s ting, tough I DESPERATELY need a rest, since NaNo was being so mean and unmerciful.

Though I’m always plotting, so ya know. (BTW, I just wrote “yak,” and it’s not even afternoon yet.)

img_paper_stacksWRITING GOALS THIS YEAR?

To continuously work on writing. I usually only do it in April and November, besides short stories.

I also have a fun blog series starting (hopefully???) in a week or two. Maybe next week. Who knows.

So how about you guys? Are you writers and what are some of YOUR answers to these questions? Are you going to do the tag? What genres do you like? Has anyone else fallen in love with the new PTX album?? πŸ˜‰ Tell me all in the comments below! Bye!
