So hey everyone! Today’s my last anything with the blog tour of Water Princess, Fire Prince, and I’ll be doing an author interview with Kendra E. Ardnek. Yay!
Let’s get started!
- What gave you the idea to write WPFP?
The desire to climb into a shower, close my eyes, and be spirited away to another world.
+
That would be awesome
2. Where do you normally write?
For the most part, on my computer with Microsoft Word or Atlantis, and usually at my desk under my loft bed, but I also love notebooks and mechanical pencils, and I’ll write with them anywhere.
+
I often times work under my loft be too!
3. When you experience writer’s block, how do you overcome it?
I step back from the blocked story and work on something else, whether it be another story, cleaning my room, knitting a scarf, or running around in circles like a crazy person. Eventually I wander back, wither because of a breakthrough or guilt, and get through the block.
+
I tend to run around like a crazy person! What better way is there to come up with new ideas? 🙂
4. Which of your WPFP characters was your favorite to write?
Laura. She’s a minor character in WPFP, but she’s the actual main character of the series. She has the ability to control the doors between worlds, and her timeline is out of whack with the rest of the characters, so she’s fun to work with.
+
My favorites are often times a secondary character. Laura is completely awesome!!
5. If you had to re-name your story, what would it be?
The original title was Waterfall Princess, however, I think that, if I were to retitle it now, it would be The Rise of Water and Fire.
+
It has a good title now.
6. If everything you wrote became true, what would you do?
I would be the queen of the universe and everything would be perfect.
Don’t tempt me with such power. Please.
+
🙂
7. How long did it take to write WPFP?
The first draft took about five years, the second draft was written in five (non-consecutive) months.
+
That’s a pretty long time…
8. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what kind?
I’m unfortunately one of those boring people who writes best to the click of her keyboard and the scratch of the pencil. However, when I do decide to turn on music, it’s usually classical, inspirational, or a movie soundtrack.
+
Sometimes I do work best to the click of my keyboard. But, the Doctor Who soundtrack works wonders!
Thanks for coming! It was fun!!
Thanks for having me over!

P.S. I’m suppose to get WPFP in the mail today! Eek!
Author Bio:Kendra E. Ardnek loves fairy tales and twisting them in new and exciting ways. She’s been practicing her skills on her dozen plus cousins and siblings for years, “Finish your story, Kendra”, is frequently heard at family gatherings. Her sole life goal has always been to grow up and be an author of fantasy and children’s tales that also glorify God and his Word. You can read more about her on her blog,knittedbygodsplan.blogspot.com.
When the Lady Dragon does come,
Hold fast, do not fear, do not run.
Your Water Princess will fight,
Fire Prince will set all to right.
Each shall come from a Fall,
Their union will save you all.
Despite the fact that she’s on track for competing in the Olympics, and he’s practically raised his younger brothers since they lost their mom in a car accident, Clara Mandras and Andrew Stevenson are pretty much normal teens. They have normal hopes, normal dreams, and they live in a normal world.
All this is torn away from them when they are thrust into another world and declared Water Princess and Fire Prince. With no experience ruling a country, meeting each other for the first time, and being expected to fight the Lady Dragon – an evil sorceress plaguing the world of Rizkaland – Clara and Andrew are underprepared and inexperienced. Unless they learn to work together despite their standing opposition, Rizkaland’s hope will be lost.
What is to come will change their lives forever.

God is the only one who can rule over the whole universe and everything be perfect. And even then we mesed it up. Not much chance of anyone of us doing better. 🙂

“I would be the queen of the universe and everything would be perfect.
Don’t tempt me with such power. Please.” Oh goodness, Kendra.
(I have a major obsession with mechanical pencils and movie soundtracks/scores…)
Great interview, Alyssa! 🙂 I liked it a lot.

Hi Alyssa! This book does sound awesome 🙂
I’m really sorry that I’m not following your awesome blog yet, but I hope to soon! Sorry for the delay… it’s kind of complicated. I feel really bad because you are so sweet and leave lovely comments on my blog, so I feel I should return your kindness by following you too 🙂
Also, I saw your book review blog and I wish you the best of luck with it!
Simi
P.S. I like Doctor Who too! My favourite companions are Amy, Rory, Martha and Donna 😀 And Matt Smith and David Tennant are AWESOME!!!! Sorry, I’m rambling… I love Doctor Who 😉

You should definitely read the book!
And it’s fine that you don’t follow my blog. I follow to many as it is, but there’s so many good ones out there… 🙂 And I completely understand the delay, it happens a lot with me!
Thanks! I hope to get a review of A Dream Not Imagined soon, but first I need to read the book… And I’m hoping it goes well. 😀
And Doctor Who is completely awesome! I could spend hours talking (the longest I’ve talked about it straight is thirty minuets, but I’m getting there!) about Doctor Who. My favorites are Amy, Rory, Clara, and RiverSong. David Tennant is my favorite doctor closely followed by Peter Capaldi, but all the doctors and companions are awesome. Doctor Who is great. 😀 😀
Thanks! Your comment made my day! ❤

It’s fine, I’ll follow as soon as I can!!
I’m looking forward to your next review!
What?? Matt Smith is awesome!! Peter Capaldi is good, but not as awesome as Matt, it has to be said. I like that you’re into Dr Who even though it’s an English programme 🙂 I could talk for ages about it too… but I won’t!
Thanks! I’m glad it made your day 🙂

🙂 And Matt is pretty awesome, a few of my favorite episodes are his. But I had to choose.

Laura! I look forward to reading more of her. She seems like a character I could really connect with if we got to read from her POV. I’m interested in learning more about her Doorkeeping job and how often she’s doing that versus simply visiting world on her own.

I like to consider myself a Doorkeeper. 🙂
But yes, I’m pretty interested as well in learning about Laura. She’s such an interesting character.

“Don’t tempt me with such power.”
I kind of wish there was a way I could actually see what you’d do if you did get that power, but without causing any permanent damage, honestly. I mean, I know you told us, but . . . ‘twould be interesting to actually see it and see you as you used it, that’s all.
Also: the problem with the shower thing would be that you’d end up wherever you went naked. Talk about awkward.
Great interview!

It would be cool if we could see what would happen if someone’s creations came to life. I’m sure there’s some book/movie/show about that…
Anyways, that’s why you always shower with your clothes on. You don’t?

There probably is. I’ve tried writing a character or two like that as well. The problem is that they tend to be overpowered . . .
Heh. Nope. So hopefully swimming pools will be the only water source that doubles as a portal for me.

Just hope if you do go through the swimming pool way, that you end up somewhere hot, not in the middle of winter…

That is a good point. Though you’d have the same problem in the shower.
